A few days just before the AIDS conference in Durban, a
declaration was signed by more than five thousand scientists and
physicians, reaffirming their belief in the hypothesis that HIV is the
cause of AIDS, the so-called Durban Declaration. d There is a
genuine fear that people are going to misbehave unless they believe
that HIV is the cause of AIDS. But presenting a hypothesis as a
proven theory is downright wrong. This is science not politics nor
religion. It is not appropriate to present a hypothesis as a dogma.
This is bad for science in the long run. Science has been
commercialized long ago, now it is being politicized or dogmatized
like religious or political believes. Scientific progress depends on the
ability to challenge the current belief. This was why president
Thabo Mbeki said in his speech, "What I hear being said repeatedly,
stridently, angrily, is - do not ask any question!" m It is amazing that
some of these scientists were actually from countries advocating the
right to free speech.
In most cases, many hypotheses will be proposed and many of them
will be found incorrect. Just check in the scientific literature, there
are numerous publications which the authors wish they had not
been published. In order to test a hypothesis, one has to believe the
hypothesis may be correct. It means taking chances. If it turns out to
be incorrect, the hypothesis will be abandoned. A hypothesis should
not be treated as something sacred. In the real world, sometimes
decisions have to be made without complete information, like the
bombings of the rocket development centre in Germany during the
second world war. At the beginning, there were only flimsy
evidences indicating something important going on there. One
thousand bombers had to be diverted from other theatres of war for
the strike. If subsequent intelligence reports had not indicated the
correctness of the decision, would there be the second bombing?
During China's disastrous "Big Leap Forward," a silly scheme born
out of desperation, officials churned out unreal results to please
their superiors, resulting in the disaster being continued for a much
longer period than necessary. The results regarding AIDS are
mostly real but interpretation of the results is incorrect.
African doctors say "They have never seen this before." New things
may appear to be new, but it does not have to be something entirely
new. North Americans are preoccupied with new things, but new
things may come from old things with new arrangements, like
plastics and trans-uranium elements. The new phenomenon can be
accounted for by a modified version of Hansen's bacterium which is
more virulent than the earlier version. For detail, please see New
Hypothesis. The most obvious suspect is the modified version of
Hansen's bacterium. North American scientists are unable to
recognize an old problem wearing a new disguise. In fact the
disguise is not all that good if it had not been HIV, the decoy,
attracting all the attention. AIDS may be ENL (erythema nodosum
leprosum) due to the more virulent modified version of Hansen's
bacterium. For theoretical justification, please see the two booklets,
"Alternative Approach to AIDS." Shortened versions of the booklets
are available free on line.
The decline in the number of deaths due to AIDS in recent years has
been cited so frequently by North American and Western European
HIV scientists as evidence for their success. Many doctors know that
patients with Hansen's disease can expect to live to sixty-five
considering the living conditions of North America and Western
Europe as long as ENL (erythema nodosum leprosum, an immune
reaction, has probably been renamed AIDS by the HIV industry) is
not activated, and if activated, thalidomide is available for
treatment. Dr. Gilla Kaplan (Time 1993 July 12: 39) published her
results about thalidomide treatments on AIDS patients in July 1993.
Smuggling of the drug from Brazil and its distribution through
underground networks in North America started soon afterwards,
so was the decline in the number of deaths due to AIDS long before
the cocktails of protease inhibitors appeared. The protease
inhibitors were used as single components on AIDS patients in 1995
and HIV developed resistance to them almost immediately. The
three-drugs cocktails did not appear until 1996 just before the
Vancouver Conference. The HIV industry has attributed the decline
to the cocktails of the protease inhibitors. The reductions in the
dosages and frequency of AZT use may have helped the decline in
the number of deaths also. There is enough information to indicate
that something is wrong. Funding, by governments, plays a very
important role in scientific research, just from the US government
alone, $1.7 billion is allocated annually for the HIV industry. It is a
large sum of money, and many scientists keep silent lest they lose
their grants. Officials of AIDS organizations are making a good
living out of the funding. Government officials realise the monster,
the HIV industry, created with government funding, will bite them
unless they keep feeding it. The AIDS disaster is only 30% natural.
The rest 70% is man-made. The US government made the
premature decision regarding the cause of AIDS first, then the rest
of the world followed. The media became a gigantic propaganda
machine. At first, they merely stated that HIV was linked to AIDS.
Then the hypothesis, "HIV causes AIDS," was and still is being
repeated again and again by the media as a proven theory or as a
dogma. Who is responsible for this?
The whole thing is reminiscent of China during the bad old days,
staggering from one disaster to another. There was only one
direction the helmsman would move, left and further left, until Deng
Xiaoping came out and said "move to the right." Is president Mbeki
the person to change the course of the AIDS disaster? After so many
years of great efforts without much progress, it is time to rethink
AIDS and try other hypotheses as well. It is only common sense not
to put all the eggs in one basket.
A mistake can be covered up with something but it can rarely be
corrected by another mistake. Right now, a story is being told on
TV, that a baby boy was castrated because of a botched
circumcision and raised as a girl. All those treatments could not
alter the fact that the person is male. Money speaks louder for the
time being but the truth will come out eventually.
